Black Roses by Alan Williams On new years eve you never called and never called. I went into that world of my own, and got farther in than normal. I could see Kew Gardens, row after row of roses, planted in tubs. The roses were all black, every one of them. I was thrilled. I thought it was special to me, my own negative miracle. Then I thought, "the roses can't be black. More likely there's something wrong with my eyes." I've been recovering with that thought for five years now. Later on, you did come, but you were in disguise, and at first I didn't recognise you.
